I have always loved taking photographs-- the composition, the lighting, the storytelling. It wasn't until I had children that I became obsessed with recording all the little details.
A while back, I came across a photo of my daughter, at age three, and realized that I had forgotten that day, that hairstyle, and the vintage ballet costume she kept on her tiny body for three weeks straight, even at school. Without the photograph, I may have lost it all.
Now she is fourteen and my son is nine, and I'm beginning to understand the weight that these kind of details carry in our everyday lives. I now make an effort to stop and take notice, to try to log these moments as memories, but just in case, my camera's always ready.
